The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has intercepted a Togo-flagged tanker operated by a United Arab Emirates-based company in the Persian Gulf, according to British maritime security firm Ambrey.
The tanker, carrying 1,500 tonnes of marine gasoil from Iraq, was heading to the UAE. The interception is believed to be part of Iran's efforts to combat oil smuggling in the region.
