Following the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas sent a letter expressing deep concern. Abbas emphasized that "there is no place for violence in a world of law and order."

In his letter, Abbas called for resolving conflicts through political dialogue and condemned assassination attempts as "a weapon of the weak." He also expressed his sympathy for the families of the deceased and the wounded.

It's noteworthy that the Palestinian Authority had severed relations with the Trump administration after the U.S. recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital and moved its embassy there. Trump's posting of Abbas' letter on his Truth social media page, with the caption: "Mahmoud, it's a pleasure. Thank you. Everything will be fine. Best wishes, Donald Trump," suggests he views it as an attempt to reestablish contact.
