Israeli media reports that the target of the Beirut attack was Fouad Shukr, also known as Al-Haj Muhsin, a senior Hezbollah figure. Described as the group's second-in-command and leader of its militant wing, Shukr is a founding member of Hezbollah and a key figure in its "Jihad Council."

Shukr, originally from Al-Nebi Shait in the Bekaa Valley, is linked to significant attacks, including the 1983 truck bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 American and 58 French servicemen, as well as six civilians.

Hezbollah's Al-Nebi Shait is also the birthplace of Abbas Moussaoui, a former Hezbollah secretary general eliminated by Israel.

The U.S. has placed Shukr on its international wanted list and is offering a $5 million reward for information leading to his capture.
