Emergency meeting of Iran's National Security Council takes place in Tehran

An emergency meeting of the Islamic Republic's National Security Council is currently taking place in Tehran.

According to available information, the circumstances surrounding the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who had attended the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei the day before, are being investigated.

Security measures have been intensified for Iran's leadership and some "foreign guests," including the leader of the Islamic Jihad, Ziyad al-Nakhalah.
