Turkish foreign ministry: 'Haniyeh was one of hundreds of thousands of martyrs who died for the Palestinian state'
The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of the killing of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh. The statement asserts that Benjamin Netanyahu's government has once again demonstrated its unwillingness to pursue peace.
"We condemn the heinous killing of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh. We express our condolences to the Palestinian people, who have sacrificed hundreds of thousands of martyrs, like Haniyeh, to live in peace on their homeland, in their own state," the statement reads.
The ministry also claims that the aim of the killing is to spread the war throughout the region and calls on the international community to stop Israel to prevent a broader conflict. The statement also expresses Turkish support for the "just cause of the Palestinians."
