IDF: Sahar Baruch, held captive in Gaza, died during hostage rescue operation
On Wednesday, January 3, the IDF notified the family of Sahar Baruch that he had died during the rescue operation in Gaza. The 25-year-old man was abducted by terrorists on October 7 from Kibbutz Be'eri.
During the operation on December 8, two IDF soldiers were seriously injured. Sahar Baruch's body could not be brought back to Israel. Baruch's 20-year-old brother, Idan, was killed by terrorists on October 7.
Carmela Menashe, a military correspondent for Kan Bet radio station, notes that it's unknown whether Baruch was killed by terrorists or friendly fire from IDF.
On December 9, Kibbutz Be'eri announced the death of Sahar Baruch. At that time, the IDF did not comment on this information.
