"A Real Pain," Jesse Eisenberg's second film as a director, has been selected for the U.S. Dramatic Competition section of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. The festival will take place from January 18 to 28, 2024.
The movie follows two cousins going on a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother. Immersed in their family history, the mismatched brothers undergo a challenging path to understanding the Holocaust and their own lives. Eisenberg wrote the screenplay and stars in the movie alongside Kieran Culkin.
The competition section will also include Nathan Silver's "Between the Temples," a comedy about a cantor experiencing a crisis of faith. The protagonist's life takes a dramatic turn after encountering his grade school music teacher, who decides to undergo a bat mitzvah ceremony. The film stars Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the festival is set to showcase 82 feature films from 24 countries. The festival takes place in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah. No films by Israeli directors were selected for this year's lineup.
