Noah Schnapp clarifies his stance on Israel-Hamas conflict
Noah Schnapp, star of "Stranger Things," stated that fans misunderstood "his thoughts and beliefs" regarding Israel's conflict with the terrorist organization Hamas.
Schnapp posted a video on his TikTok page emphasizing his desire for the return of Israeli hostages taken on October 7 and expressed hope for an end to the loss of innocent lives in Palestine. He also expressed his wish to see both sides living in harmony in the region.
The actor highlighted his recent communication with friends of Palestinian origin, stating, "We all hope for the same thing...Anyone who has even an ounce of humanity in them hopes for an end to hostilities on both sides."
It's worth noting that immediately after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, Schnapp expressed fear as a Jewish American.
However, later, he faced criticism after sharing a video with friends holding signs reading "Zionism is sexy," leading to calls for a boycott of the show's fifth season, though those videos are no longer available.
"Today, I just want peace, safety, and security for all the innocent people involved in this conflict," Schnapp stated, urging his followers to show more understanding and tolerance.
Noah Schnapp, an American actor of Jewish descent, is best known for his role as Will Byers in the TV series Stranger Things. He was born in New York City to Mitchell and Karin Schnapp, with his father being Jewish of Russian descent and his mother of Moroccan-Jewish descent. Schnapp was bar mitzvahed in Israel. He publicly came out as gay on January 5, 2023, similar to his character in the series.
"Stranger Things" has been streaming on Netflix since 2016, with the fifth and final season set to premiere in 2024, with filming beginning in January.
