France sanctions 28 Israeli 'extremist' settlers accused of attacks
The French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs on Tuesday announced sanctions against 28 "extremist Israeli settlers" who were accused of committing violent acts against Palestinians in Arab communities in Judea and Samaria. The official statement from the French Foreign Ministry does not mention the names of Israelis who are now banned from French territory.
The statement says that violence perpetrated by settlers against the Palestinian population has increased in recent months. According to UN figures cited in the statement, daily settler attacks have more than doubled since Hamas's surprise attack on Israel on October 7. The number of attacks by Palestinians on Israelis and the number of Israeli casualties is not mentioned.
The 28 individuals on the unnamed list are prohibited from visiting and traveling within France.
The French announcement came after the United Kingdom and the United States also announced sanctions against settlers.
