Labour Party rejects support for Rochdale candidate over anti-Israel remarks
The UK Labour Party press office announced the withdrawal of its support for Labour's midterm candidate Azhar Ali in Rochdale, near Manchester.
This decision was prompted by a statement made by Azhar Ali during a meeting with voters, where he suggested that Israeli authorities intentionally allowed a Hamas attack to occur as a pretext for invading the Gaza Strip.
Although the parliamentary candidate apologized for his remarks, Labour proceeded with withdrawing its support. Despite this, Azhar Ali will still participate in the elections, as the deadline for nominating new candidates has passed.
