Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, attending the African Union summit in Addis Ababa, drew parallels between Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and the Holocaust of European Jewry.

"What's happening in Gaza isn't war, it's genocide. This isn't a conflict between armies. It's a powerful military targeting women and children. The last time we saw something like this was when Hitler sought to wipe out the Jews," he remarked.

It's worth noting that shortly after taking office, President da Silva urged the United States and the European Union to halt military aid to Ukraine.

He also mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite facing an international arrest warrant for alleged child abduction in Ukraine, would be welcome to visit Brazil.
