EU High Commissioner for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell announced that Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, will participate in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on February 19.
"I will welcome Yulia Navalnaya at the Council meeting on Monday. This demonstrates our ministers' support for the freedom fighters of Russia, and we will pay tribute to the memory of Alexei Navalny," the politician wrote on the social network X.
Earlier, Yulia Navalnaya spoke at the Munich Security Conference, expressing her desire for accountability for Putin and his circle regarding their actions in Russia and towards her family and husband.
The Russian opposition politician passed away on February 16 in correctional colony No. 3 in the polar village of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Authorities have refused to release his body to his loved ones.
