Self-immolation at Israeli Embassy in Washington: details

Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old US Air Force serviceman, died from his injuries after self-immolating outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington. He committed suicide in protest against Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip.

The suicide was livestreamed on the internet. Bushnell arrived at the embassy around one o'clock in the afternoon local time, wearing military uniform. Before setting himself on fire, he shouted, "Free Palestine!"

"I am on active duty in the US Air Force, and I can no longer be complicit in genocide. Now, I will engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what the Palestinians are enduring, there is nothing extreme about it. This is what our ruling class deems acceptable," he stated.

Emergency responders quickly reached the scene, and Bushnell was transported to the hospital. Initially in critical condition, his injuries proved fatal despite efforts to save him.
