Biden wins Michigan primary despite opposition from Muslim community
US President Joe Biden secured victory in the Democratic primary in Michigan, capturing approximately 80% of the vote.
Biden's win remained unaffected by calls from leaders of Michigan's Muslim community, the largest in the United States, urging voters to oppose him due to the White House's stance on Israel's conflict with Hamas.
However, the campaign highlighted a significant number of undecided Democratic voters in the state, posing a potential challenge for Biden in the presidential election.
Michigan holds sway as one of the swing states, with Biden narrowly defeating Trump by a margin of just 11,000 votes in the previous election.
In the GOP primary, Donald Trump also emerged victorious comfortably, clinching around 65% of the vote. His sole competitor, Nikki Haley, garnered only about 30%.
