The New Zealand government has announced it will ban entry into its territory for "radical Israeli settlers who have attacked Palestinians in the West Bank."
The statement, issued jointly by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Foreign Minister Winston Peters, did not name the sanctioned settlers.
It's worth noting that before this, New Zealand declared Hamas a terrorist organization without distinguishing between its political and military wings.
Peters said, "After the terrorist attack on October 7, it is impossible to distinguish between the military and political wings of Hamas. The organization as a whole bears responsibility for these horrific terrorist attacks."
Since 2010, New Zealand has recognized the military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, as a terrorist organization, but it had not designated the political leadership of Hamas and the organization as a whole as terrorists until now.
