'I’m here to kill Jews': religious Jewish man stabbed to death in Zurich
A 50-year-old Orthodox Jewish man was stabbed with a knife in the heart of Zurich. Doctors have deemed the man's injury as "serious and life-threatening."
The attacker, a 15-year-old teenager, was apprehended at the scene of the crime.
This incident occurred on Saturday, March 2, around 9:30 PM local time in the Selnau quarter.
According to witnesses cited by the Swiss website Tachles, which covers the country's Jewish community, the teenager shouted at passersby: "I am Swiss. I am a Muslim. I am here to kill Jews."
The publication also noted that the detainee's family migrated to Switzerland from Tunisia.
In a report by Jta.org, paramedics who administered first aid to the victim mentioned that the teenager laughed when the police handcuffed him.
The Zurich police are exercising caution regarding the possibility of antisemitic motives behind the incident.
As a precautionary measure, security measures have been heightened at Jewish sites across the city.
