UN Special Envoy Pramila Patten confirms Hamas rapes in report

UN Under-Secretary-General Pramila Patten, Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict, released her report during a special press conference.

The report focuses on the sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas terrorists against Israeli women on Black Saturday, October 7.

In her report, Patten confirms evidence of Hamas terrorists raping their victims and shooting naked women.

She also notes instances of sexualized violence against Hamas abductees and suggests that rape continues while victims remain in terrorist captivity. Patten calls on Hamas to immediately release the hostages.

The report comes a month after Patten and her team visited Israel to gather evidence of sexual violence against Israeli girls and women by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023.

Patten's report presents numerous accounts of rape, including gang rape, sexualized mutilation such as shooting victims in the crotch, cutting off breasts and genitals, as well as incidents of stripping and binding the hands and feet of Black Saturday victims.

The full report by Pramila Patten will be published on Monday evening.

Patten spent a week in Israel, invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of international organizations and Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan.

During her visit, Patten met with violence victims, representatives of ZAKA and the medical examiner's office, law enforcement, doctors, psychiatrists, and specialists aiding sexual violence victims in the Ministry of Social Services.

She also viewed a film compiled from October 7 massacre footage and visited destroyed villages in the south.

Patten reportedly expressed shock at the scale of the tragedy after viewing the film. She stated, "Only now I understand the pain, resentment, and anger of Israel at the world’s attitude towards what happened here."
