On March 5, a ceremony was held on Nemiga Street in Minsk to unveil a memorial plaque marking the location of the main gate of the Minsk ghetto during World War II.
The ceremony coincided with the anniversary of the mass execution of Jewish prisoners, which occurred on March 2-3, 1942.
The plaque bears inscriptions in Hebrew, Belarusian, and Russian, commemorating the memory of over 100,000 Jews who perished in the Minsk ghetto.
It states that one of the entrances to the Minsk ghetto existed at this location from 1941 to 1943.
Additionally, the inscription acknowledges the support of the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities, the Embassy of the State of Israel in Minsk, and the Nativ organization in installing the memorial plaque.
Former ghetto prisoners who survived to this day participated in the unveiling ceremony, along with Zvi Mirkin, the head of the Israeli Embassy in Belarus, who delivered remarks.
"This small gesture contributes to preserving the historical memory of the Holocaust tragedy. Preserving this memory is the least we can do for the victims," he said.
