According to the British Guardian, concerns are rising in the United States and European countries that military actions in Gaza have bolstered a faction within the Iranian leadership advocating for the development of nuclear weapons.
The publication reports that this issue was discussed at last week's meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The Guardian also attributes the hostilities in the region to the Board of Governors' failure to issue a statement emphasizing the seriousness of the problem.
Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, admitted that the agency lacks continuous data on the progress of Iranian nuclear development.
This includes information on the number and location of centrifuges, reserves of heavy water, and processed and unprocessed uranium ore.
Russian representative Mikhail Ulyanov also noted that the international community has lost control over Iranian developments, linking this to the decision of the Trump administration to withdraw from the Vienna Agreements.
