'Bring them home' poster removed at Israeli team match in Germany to 'prevent tension'
In Halle, during the European Youth Football Championship qualifying match (for players under 21), the German team secured a 2-0 victory over the Israelis.
According to Ynet, security removed a banner supporting Hamas hostages during the game. The banner read, 'Bring them home.'
A spokesperson for the German Football Federation stated, 'Political posters are prohibited during official matches.'
The spokesperson further explained to a journalist from Bild, 'The banner was not pre-approved and was raised as the teams entered the field. Spectators were asked to remove it, which they did. When it appeared a second time, security intervened to prevent escalation of tensions.'
