Pennsylvania State Police have launched an investigation into an incident in Wynnewood, a suburb of Philadelphia.
Unknown individuals painted a red swastika over the inscription "We support Israel" near the Beit El synagogue.
"The swastika holds a painful history for our community, symbolizing hatred and death. Those behind this act aim to divide and instill fear," local community rabbi Ethan Witkovsky stated, as quoted by CBS.
Despite the incident, the rabbi affirmed that services will continue as planned. "We stand stronger and more determined than ever. Our response to antisemitism is to foster a vibrant community, prayer, unity, and mutual support," he added, expressing gratitude for public support.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro also condemned the antisemitic attack, stating, "Antisemitism and assaults on places of worship have no place in our society." He assured that state police, alongside other law enforcement agencies, are actively pursuing those responsible.
