British Foreign Secretary David Cameron arrived in the United States to meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other administration representatives to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the Gaza Strip.
One of the main aims of the visit is to persuade the Republican Party leadership to allocate $60 billion to Ukraine, which has been frozen in Congress. The first politician he met with in the United States was former President Donald Trump, who is leading the fight to return to the White House.
The media call the former president one of the primary opponents of assisting Ukraine. According to The Washington Post, Trump intends to pressure Ukraine to cede Crimea and Donbas to Russia. Trump denied the reports.
This is the first meeting of any British politician with Trump since he left the White House. spokesperson for the British government called it a "standard practice" for engagement between ministers and opposition candidates of partner nations.
