New York Times: Biden convinced Netanyahu not to attack Iran
According to The New York Times, the Israeli government decided during the meeting held on the night of April 14 to retaliate against Iran. However, President Joe Biden persuaded Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to refrain from doing so.
As per the publication, the American leader stated that since the Iranian attack caused minimal material damage, Israel could consider the exchange of strikes a victory.
President Biden informed the leaders of the G7 countries that he would pressure Israel to limit itself to diplomatic steps rather than military measures to prevent a regional war.
Citing informed sources, Axios reported that during their recent phone call, President Biden informed Prime Minister Netanyahu that the United States opposes any Israeli retaliatory strike against Iran.
According to the publication, the White House is concerned about being drawn into a large-scale regional war, the consequences of which would be catastrophic. Biden assured Netanyahu that the United States would not participate in any attacking actions against Iran.
