Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who recently clashed with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin over the administration's refusal to provide Israel with necessary weapons to combat Hamas, made a comparison.

He likened the IDF operation in Gaza to the US nuclear attack on Japan in 1945.

"In the wake of Pearl Harbor, as our nation faced imminent destruction while battling both Japanese and German forces, we decided to end the war with the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And it was the right decision," he stated in an interview with the NBC program "Meet the Press".

"Give Israel the weapons it needs to win a war it cannot afford to lose. Israel must do what is necessary for its survival as a Jewish state," he added.
