Sonoma State University's President, Mike Lee, was removed from his position after agreeing to anti-Israel protesters' demands, including an academic boycott of Israel.
University Chancellor Mildred Garcia stated that Lee lacked the authority to make such agreements and therefore was relieved of his duties.
Lee not only accepted the academic boycott but also agreed to form a special advisory council with representatives from the antisemitic group Students for Justice in Palestine.
US Jewish communities are outraged. "The university president supported BDS, a movement seeking Israel's destruction," said Scott Winer, co-chair of the California Jewish Legislative Forum.
