The Defense Blog reports that the IDF deployed remote-controlled M-113 armored personnel carriers during combat in Rafah. Previously, unmanned armored personnel carriers were also used during the operation in Jabalia.

An IDF commander said that unmanned M-113s have been deployed since the beginning of the war. Some vehicles are equipped with remote-controlled anti-tank guns, enhancing firepower and tactical flexibility.

These armored vehicles are primarily used in built-up areas to reduce the risk of casualties among military personnel. Their use significantly facilitates combat operations in such challenging environments, the site notes.

According to the publication, armored personnel carriers were deployed near Zaruub Hill, located on the border of the Gaza Strip and Egypt, a few kilometers from the coast and at a considerable distance from the Rafah checkpoint.
