The Associated Press reports that Maldivian authorities have decided to prohibit Israelis from entering their country due to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The President's Office informed the agency that the Cabinet of Ministers has opted to enforce a ban on Israeli passport holders from entering the country. Additionally, they plan to establish a special commission to oversee the implementation of this ban.

According to the AP, President Mohamed Muizzu plans to appoint a special envoy to assess the needs of Palestinians, with fundraising efforts already underway.

Last year, approximately 11,000 Israelis visited the Maldives, representing about 0.6% of the total number of tourists who visited the archipelago.
