Dozens arrested in protest at Israeli consulate in San Francisco
San Francisco police detained 70 pro-Palestinian activists who entered the lobby of the Israeli consulate building and refused to leave. The standoff with police lasted several hours.
The demonstrators identified themselves as members of the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network. One of the posters they held read, “By committing genocide, the Jews are becoming weaker. Not in my name.”
Israeli Consul General in San Francisco, Marco Sermoneta, stated that the demonstrators were unable to reach the diplomatic mission, but visitor appointments had to be rescheduled. He expressed outrage at the demonstrators' actions, though he was not surprised by them.
