French prosecutors have charged two teens, one 19-year-old and the other a minor, with planning terrorist attacks on Jewish sites, AFP reports, citing a judicial source.

The 19-year-old has been charged with "terrorist conspiracy" for planning the attacks, as well as "acquisition and possession of arms for a terrorist enterprise."

The young men met on social media and were planning a "violent action notably aiming at Jewish targets." No further details have been provided.

Anti-terrorism investigators note that the number of young individuals arrested for planning terrorist attacks has increased in recent months.

French politicians have also condemned the growing number of attacks on the country's Jewish community, the largest outside Israel and the United States.
