Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, visiting the United States, met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington. The U.S. administration is focused on preventing a war between Israel and the terrorist group Hezbollah.

"Blinken emphasized the need to prevent the conflict from escalating and the importance of a diplomatic solution that would allow Lebanese and Israeli families to return home," the State Department reported.

One of the goals of Gallant's visit was to reduce tensions between Israel and the United States. "The eyes of our friends and our enemies are on us. We must quickly overcome differences and stand shoulder to shoulder," Gallant said.

The situation in the Gaza Strip was also discussed, with Blinken stressing the need to ensure the safety of aid workers.
