US President Joe Biden met with former hostage Liat Atzili, who was held captive by Hamas for 54 days and released under the first deal. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan was also present.
"Liat Beinin Atzili is a survivor. It was my honor to welcome her to the White House this evening, hear firsthand about her resilience despite enduring the unthinkable, and promise her that my work isn't done until we secure the release of all remaining hostages held by Hamas." the president wrote on his X profile.
Atzili was released on November 29. The next day, Kibbutz Nir Oz announced that her husband, Aviv Atzili, previously missing, was killed in a battle with Hamas terrorists on October 7.
