Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump posted a message on his Truth social media page, thanking everyone for their support after the assassination attempt.
"Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, for only God prevented the unthinkable. We will not fear, but instead remain steadfast in our Faith and defiant in the face of Evil," Trump said in a statement.
Trump continued, "Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of the wounded and keep in our hearts the memory of the citizen so horribly murdered. At this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united and show our true character as Americans by remaining strong and determined and not allowing evil to win. I truly love our country, I love you all, and I look forward to addressing our Great Nation this week in Wisconsin."
