The US intelligence community is increasingly receiving indications that Iranian intelligence services are planning an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump in retaliation for the killing of Quds Force commander General Qasem Soleimani, according to Politico.

Iran's move to avenge Soleimani's death, seen as a popular military leader in Iran, began shortly after he was killed at Baghdad airport in early 2020. In recent months, US intelligence has grown more confident of Iran's intentions, with expectations of more assassination attempts in the coming weeks.

It's important to note that while Trump, who is campaigning to return to the White House, survived an attempt on his life several days ago during a rally in Pennsylvania, there is no indication that Iran was involved in the incident involving 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
